Upper East Side / New York
1999-2004
This 10 story condominium, for the innovative developer Cary Tamarkin, was a controversial addition to the Carnegie Hill Historic District. It inspired the former New York film maker Woody Allen to condemn it and rally notable neighbors to affect the ultimate design. Upon approval with the Landmark Preservation Commission this nine unit luxury condominium was designed and constructed during William's time with Platt Byard Dovell White. Constructed directly over an existing Citibank branch that remained open continuously, on the corner site. Landmark and contextual considerations were critical to its success as a brick and limestone with steel casement window apartment block with a glass and zinc clad rooftop penthouse.
