William has practiced architecture in New York City since 1987 and currently teaches design at the Manhattan campus of NYiT's School of Architecture.
He established his studio to continue work on projects that engage the imagination and synthesize the complex forces any work of quality requires. The practice is committed to the pursuit of clear and careful design that pays close attention to contemporary living, scarce resources, recycling and practical necessities.
The approach to design emphasizes process, where evaluating the context and resources available is primary. Close attention to materials, detailing and constructability remain a mainstay of his experience and are essential to the work.
William was educated at Virginia Polytechnic Institute & State University where he received a Bachelors of Architecture and later at Columbia University's Graduate School of Architecture, Preservation and Planning, earning a Master's in Advanced Architectural Design. He is licensed in New York and Maine.
He's enjoyed working and collaborating with a variety of firms including Pei Cobb Freed & Partners, Leeser Architecture, 1100 Architect and Platt Byard Dovell White Architects LLP. At PBDW he was responsible for large and small projects alike over a period of 15 years and contributed to the success of the 47 East 91st Street Condominium, The New Museum, the Ames Farm in Vinalhaven, Maine and The Brearley School.
